Tania McCrea-Steele

Some people think that wildlife trafficking happens in shady markets in dark alleys. But imagine a market that’s easy to access, totally anonymous, and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. That’s the world of wildlife cybercrime.
Unfortunately for these criminals, there’s Tania McCrea-Steele.
Tania has spent her career fighting wildlife crime and advocating for animals around the globe. Since 2004, she has played a pivotal role in multiple programs at IFAW. She campaigned to end whaling and Canada’s commercial seal hunt. She also led IFAW’s national campaign in the United Kingdom to enforce the Hunting Act.
Tania now tackles wildlife crime around the globe. Since 2011, Tania has been the project lead for IFAW’s global wildlife cybercrime efforts. Her team works across more than 25 countries to expose the scale and nature of online wildlife trade. She has been at the forefront of developing and building strong relationships with governments, enforcement agencies, and the private sector to detect and disrupt wildlife cybercrime.
Tania continues to look for creative solutions to fight wildlife crime.
